Media Drive - not even 9000 diggs from US!!??
There's a thread on media coverage which also states that we can get a lot of coverage amongst people via Digg.com.
What is digg and how it works- (wikipedia)
Readers can view all of the stories that have been submitted by fellow users in the "digg/News/Upcoming" section of the site. Once a story has received enough "diggs", it appears on Digg's front page. Should the story not receive enough diggs, or if enough users report a problem with the submission, the story will remain in the "digg all" area, where it may eventually be removed.
The highest rated digg in last 7 days (with 8632 hits / diggs) is that of a iphone. Our issue could not even beat the new iphone release. Immigrationvoice has about 14893 members, 7939 active members. If each member does a digg for himself and other one for spouse, we should have atleast 14000 digg to keep our write ups LIVE, in the minds of all the people visiting this page.

Whn I entered US after visiting home country Nov 06, they gave me an I 94 till Dec 06 which was the end term of my first H1 B term.
i got the approval for xtension. In approval notice at the bottom, i see a new I 94 till 2009.
so now i got 2 I-94's now.
cud any body tell which is the real one.
next time whn i go out of this country, which i-94 i shud i hand it over to the officials??

"I would like to hear your professional opinion on the following issue: I have been on F-1 visa for 7 consecutive years. I have an employer that has sponsored me as a Graphic Designer. In fact I have obtained the I-140 through him already. I recently applied for employment AOS (July 25th) with my wife (She is on F2 visa) and I'm currently waiting on the Notice Receipt. School starts on August 20th and I'm hesitant on when exactly the new Immigrant Status starts. Do I still need to enroll for classes in order to maintain my visa? I don't intend to finish school due to financial difficulties, when exactly may I drop out from school? Should I remain enrolled up until I receive the EAD and AP? Thanks in advance for your response."

People who get labor approved in August, can they avail current window provided by USCIS and concurrently file 140/485?

Same thing happened with me - My labor was approved from Phily BEC on Mar 16th 07 and my company kept saying that didn't receive anything till Apr 16th 07...
Then i was impatient and called Phily BEC and they were very nice to explain me that it can take upto 1.5 months to 2 months for my company to receive via Lawyer. In fact it may take 1 month for Phily BEC to mail - he explained.
Eventually my company received the Labor papers on May 7th 07....

Hello Gurus,
I have got my wife passport stamped(H4) until Oct'09 based on my previous H1. I have changed company and got new I-797 for both of us valid till Apr'2010. During her recent visit to India and return to USA, at the port of entry she was issued I-94 till Oct'2009 eventhough her I-797 form my new employer is valid till Feb'2010.
I don't want to ask my wife to cross the broder (@Mexico or @Canada) for the sake of renewing her I-94. I am wondering if I can apply with USCIS for her extension of I-94 till April'2010 for which she has I-797 to support it.

My fianc�e lives in Mexico and I live in the United States. We are planning on getting married this summer. As soon as I return, I'm planning on beginning the process so that my future wife could come to the United States to live with me. We plan on getting married in the Catholic Church, but we have doubts if that type of marriage is a valid one for this specific situation. We just don't want a delay in the process simply because it was a religious marriage and we want to be with each other as soon as possible. My question is: Is a religious marriage valid for this situation? Which one would you recommend: Having a civil marriage or a religious marriage in Mexico?

I have been reading so many thread on filing but I haven't heard anything on what to do, look for after we file the 485 paper work
Can somebody provide the normal steps and what to expect after 485 gets filed. Is there a number you get, is there something you check online, what to expect in mail, what to check with the attorney, what is Finger printing, when to expect EAD, Travel Parole.. Do we need to call a hotline, I keep hearing Infopass. What is the final thing like do they stamp in the passport and we assume we have the GC? All I know is GC is not green:)

The DREAM Act could come up for a cloture vote as early as this week, but faces tough opposition from Republicans -- including a few who, like McCain, previously supported the bill.
Some will likely vote against the DREAM Act citing timing. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) plans to bring up the bill for a cloture vote as early as Wednesday, but all 42 Republican senators have said they would filibuster any bills not related to tax cuts.
As the Senate struggles to come to agreement on the tax cuts and other issues, the DREAM Act could lose its few Republican supporters. Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.), a co-sponsor of the DREAM Act, would vote against the bill if it came up this week, spokesman Mark Helmke said.
"You have to handle the spending bills, tax legislation and START first," Helmke said. "If we get those three things, he's willing to stay in and take up the DREAM Act."

If you are going to Nogales after 7th year extension, even if you get 3 years of h1, Nogales consulate gives visa for 1 year.
I have talked to Visa Officer he refused to give me for 3 years and he told me that it is the policy of Nogales consulate.

I'm interested in purchasing a better Nikon Zoom lens for my D70s. I have the 18-70 DX lens (which is great), but I also have the basic 55-200mm zoom (which I am not happy with). I've been searching online for a 70-300 Nikon lens & I can't figure out which one to get. There's the 70-300mm f/4-5.6D ED AF Zoom-Nikkor & the 70-300mm f/4-5.6G AF Zoom-Nikkor. Which is the better model, the D series or the G series? I'd like to get the new 70-300 VR, but my pocket can't handle that right now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Last week I attended the Annual Immigration Lawyers conference in Las Vegas. During the conference, government officials spent some time to update the attendees of the most recent information and upcoming changes.
It seems that the collection of the $500 fraud fee for new H1B or L-1 petitions is being used to invest in hiring more investigators. One recent trend is that business practices that were standard and went unchallenged previously, now are being viewed as �fraud.� Many companies must revise their practices to meet current standards. This does not mean that these practices of employers or businesses are necessarily fraudulent.
The biggest frustration for lawyers dealing with H1B's are the unreasonable RFE's being issued by the service since the April 1 filing. USCIS is making requests for photos of the premises, copies of contracts between all involved parties, and evidence of doing business including leases, licenses, and other proof. These requests are onerous for employers, as well as disruptive and harmful to both the employer and the employee when the H1B petition is often denied without valid justification.
USCIS presumes fraud if the employer meets two out of the following three criteria: has been doing business for fewer than ten years, has fewer than 25 employees, and/or has less than $10 million in revenue. Most well-established, bona fide companies started with these drawbacks. Even many large, well-known, highly-reputable companies are being issued intensive requests for evidence (RFEs) that seem to be without basis. This trend must stop, otherwise employers will be discouraged from filing for new H1B workers.

Yeah, right, first u need to find out which 140 was withdrawn. If the approved one is withdrawn, u r safe based on the fact that the same 140 was used with 485.
